Since 1967 the Conservatory’s collectors have gone to the singers, not the other way round: to the yurt, the kolkhoz club, the neighbour’s kitchen, the wedding. Ün keeps those tapes, about 1,900 reels and 400 digital tapes, and publishes them as an edition: every recording with its number, its place, its singer and an English working translation.
